Hi! Welcome to my food blog!
When I was growing up in Chicago, I was surrounded by cooking and baking. I learned to cook from my Italian Mom and Polish Dad. And since Mom only baked on special occasions, I learned how to bake from my grandmothers: Buscia (Boosha) Mazur and Nonna Moretti, who lived nearby. I loved cooking and baking and always connected good food with family and friends. I still do.
Then I grew up, got married, had two kids and a job. The one thing I didn’t have a lot of was time. That was when I started looking for recipes that were easy to make, quick to prepare, pretty healthy, and consistently delicious. O.k. maybe the desserts that I made (Dump cakes, poke cakes, cobblers etc. ) weren’t always healthy. But they were treats and my family loved them. 🙂
Later, my husband and kids urged me to put my dessert recipes into cookbooks and publish them on Amazon. It was a family project and a lot of fun. I heard from so many nice people who enjoyed the cookbooks and shared some of their own recipes with me.
Now, my goal is to find and share great recipes on this website. Some will be my recipes. Others will be recipes from my family and friends. I also want to find awesome recipes from other talented cooks and point you to their websites.
I’m very excited by this adventure and hope that you will enjoy the recipes we share here on Lori Burke’s Kitchen!  Even more, I hope that you’ll find some recipes here that you’ll make and share with your own family and friends. What’s better than gathering around the dinner table and sharing good food, laughter, stories, and time with the people that you love?
Enjoy!
